While hiking out in the Yosemite National Park, Justin Schwartz was bitten on the palm of his hand by a Northern Pacific rattlesnake. Over the next 24 hours, he underwent a fasciotomy which involved doctors opening up his arm from the palm all the way up to the middle of his bicep to release the huge amound of pressure that had built up from the venom.
Over the next month, he had 8 surgeries to rebuild his arm. Nasty business.
